Our Alcan Canvas Vest performs as well on the job as it does on the open road. Combining top features from several of our work vests and waxed canvas reinforced with ballistic nylon, it stops wind and water in their tracks. The 17-oz. heavy-duty canvas is thoroughly saturated with the same wax that has made our oil finish Tin Cloth such a formidable barrier to water for nearly a century. Imported from England, this special canvas is produced by the famed British Millerain, pioneers in weatherproofing fabric since 1880. A reinforcing layer of Cordura® 7-oz. ballistic nylon covers the shoulders for added protection. Ballistic nylon, originally developed for WWII flak jackets, is an exceptionally abrasion-resistant 2x2 basket weave of sturdy nylon threads, and ours is treated with a double PU coating for exceptional water resistance. For warmth against the skin, the collar is lined with sturdy 9.5-oz. cotton corduroy and the pockets with 12-oz. Moleskin, a very soft and warm sueded cotton from Brisbane Moss, the famed U.K. mill that’s been producing warm and protective clothing for farmers and sportsmen for over 140 years. Engineered for function and utility, the Alcan Canvas Vest features zippered chest and hand pockets to keep gear or accessories secure even in high winds, as well as a chest slotted-utility pocket for pens or small tools. An interior zippered-chest pocket provides additional secure storage. For coverage while riding or bending, the rear drop-tail hem is extended in length, and the standing collar rides at just the right height for maximum wind protection without interfering with a helmet. The two-way front zipper is protected by a snap-secure storm flap to seal out the cold wind, and the interior is fully-lined with lightweight Cordura® nylon. The Alcan Canvas Vest–designed for comfortable protection while riding, with features that have made our work vests functional and dependable workhorses over the decades.
Do not wash or dry clean – brush or wipe clean with a damp rag. Rewax as needed to maintain maximum water resistance. To prevent the transfer of oils, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact between Filson oil finish goods and light-colored fabrics, especially in warm weather.
